The Jolie Pez Project: Annapolis and College Park, Maryland & Washington D.C.

After a quick stop at Blurt World Headquarters, the Jolie traveled to Maryland where she spent several days with the author of the fine blog, Hippie Cahier. Over the course of their time together, Hippie thoroughly documented their adventures over on her blog and sent several highlights of their time to be displayed here on Blurt. Please take the time to look through Hippie’s work, I highly recommend it!

The Jolie arrived in time for dinner and enjoyed a glass of white wine and some light reading to help her relax after her travels. There was a small incident with the neighbors’ cat, but that’s what attorneys and homeowners insurance are all about, right?

The Jolie enjoyed the quiet mornings here in the marina community.  It’s a shame the weather was cold and a little gray sometimes. She really wanted to get out there on the water.

The tabloid stories are true: she really doesn’t like DC much, but she did agree to a quick evening around town.  EVERYONE recognized her.  I even heard folks speaking in languages other than English but could clearly discern the “Angelina Jolie” part.  It is, indeed, exhausting to be a celebrity.

She saw the White House and the Capitol Dome and a few other local spots before it was just too dark and cold to go on. She’s a bit testy when she’s tired and cold. (Note the two gentlemen on the roof of the White House. Think they’re replacing some shingles? Me neither. Hippie Cahier is a security risk!)

We also visited the University of Maryland, where she learned the tradition that Omawarisan is well aware of: rubbing Testudo’s nose for good luck.  She just about managed it, no small feat seeing as how she’s just about the size of said nose. (Omawarisan, a proud Maryland grad, is well aware that rubbing Testudo’s nose is good luck. He also takes note that Testudo still hasn’t flown) (That part in the last parenthesis is the first time I have ever written of myself in the third person. Omawarisan is sorry about that)

The Jolie visited another proud institution of higher learning when she got back to Annapolis.

Her visit ended with a whirlwind tour and some window shopping in historic Annapolis.  For such a tiny girl, she sure loves to eat! (note the lamp in the window of the ice cream shop. Maryland is the greatest, I miss it. O.)

The last of her “Naptown” exploits are posted over at Le Cahier if you’d like to see more.
Thanks for sending her this way. I really had a fun time once I got used to the sailor mouth!  Looking forward to what her future travels bring.
Peace out.
And thank you to my friend and fellow Maryland Alum for taking the risk to allow The Jolie into her life. The Jolie has moved on to her next destination and has her heart set on going to The Charm City (hon!) before she leaves Maryland.
Two more matters relating to The Jolie. First, there is a post that chronologically comes before this one…the lost California post that I found today. My apologies to Margie for that. It will be up soon.
Second, attention Canada! It is time! The Jolie has let me know that she wants to head north, The Jolie’s Canadian Tour will be starting soon.  She will hit a series of destinations in Canada before returning to the States. All Canadian fans of The Jolie (except those living in Japan, your time is coming) please shoot me an email. I’ve got a list of who has expressed interest, but I need names and addresses to get things rolling.
Fans of the Jolie outside of North America…your time is coming.

Thanks much, O. It was great fun. I wasn’t going to mention Testudo’s flightlessness, but y’know, someone had to do it. 🙂

Looking forward to her future adventures!

The link I found didn’t mention him being shot down by the Minuteman at the other end of the Mall if he did fly…is that the version you got or just the flying around thing.

…that lamp has only one leg. I saw the other, enrobed in black fishnet, adorning a shop in Calistoga last weekend. Eerie.

My favorite part is testudo. Great job, HC!

The Jolie atop the upturned shells = fantastic.

  6. Todd Pack says:

Great photos, especially the one with the terrapin. Also, I like the picture with the naval officer.

I think it’s so cool how she’s gonna end up going around the world.

    Nicely done, everyone.

Is it just me, or am I picked up on waves of judging from her as she gazes upon that Star magazine?

  8. spencercourt says:

If the Jolie is interested in Las Vegas in February, let me know.

Guess I’m a little behind here. Had I known Jolie was coming to town, I would have made suggestions for site locations like: Eastern Market, Social Safeway, or anywhere in Virginia. What’s up with Maryland???

The Jolie travels in mysterious ways, mostly by mail. She doesn’t often alert the media to keep from having crowd issues.

She’s still in Maryland and will be moving on to Baltimore next before the Canadian Tour starts. Never mind suggestions, she can come see you and you can show her around. This wont be her last DC area visit.

Love the DC area, but I grew up in MD.

I had all sorts of ideas — Georgetown Cupcake for Betty and Eastern Market and more than a drive by of the Capitol among them. Unfortunately, she was a bit behind on schedule and we only had one day in DC on a holiday weekend. There’s so much to cover here. I’m sure you’ll do a fine job, especially if she has more time to spend.

  10. I love The Jolie on the turtle’s nose!
