Photos From My iPhone (The Continuation)

Welcome back to the The Omawarisan Gallery Of Photographic Art. I hope you enjoyed your tour of the first floor. We’re going to move on to the second floor because that’s the sensible thing to do.

I warned you at the end of the first floor tour that The Gallery’s more disturbing installations were up here. I’m happy that you chose to come back despite my warning. For those of you taking the tour from your office computer, be assured that all the images in The Gallery are safe for work. Let’s get started, shall we?

Be Open To New Career Possibilities

Our first exhibit is a shot of a promotional photo of one of the Lady Cats, the cheerleaders for the Charlotte Bobcats. The maintenance staff of the Bobcats’ arena like leaving their tools positioned just so in front of this woman’s life-sized image.

Photos From My iPhone

I’ve never been one to keep a camera around. Now, things have changed. My problem isn’t that I don’t have a camera when I need it. The problem is my phone getting filled with photos that I thought were important.

Yesterday I cleared out some of the pictures in my phone. Today, I’m taking you on a tour of the gallery of shots that I found. Some, I think I had intentions of writing about. Others were just taken to make sure I could confirm what I thought I’d seen. I’ll even show you a few that I have no explanation of.

I’ll Bet The Neighbors Were Impressed

The first photo in our tour of The Omawarisan Gallery Of Photographic Art is an example of a photograph taken to let me confirm what I thought I saw. In this photo, we see that someone planted a tall, tapering bush in their front yard. Unsatisfied with that landscaping effect, they added two round shrubs in front of it. The Sunday Film Series: Minivan Versus Marching Band

I had the chance to catch my son and The NC State Marching Band on Saturday. I took in a football game as well.

Here is a time-lapse video of the band passing through the stadium. The band is well over 300 members, so it usually takes two minutes or more for the whole group to pass one point. Read the rest of this entry »

Pictures At An Exhibition

Sometimes I use my phone to talk to other people. More often, I use it to take pictures of things I think I might write about.

Today, I invite you to stroll through my Exhibition Of Pictures I Didn’t Manage To Complete A Post On. The cool kids call it EOPIDMTCAPO. If you don’t feel up to a stroll, please feel free to just use your eyes.

Contact Your Physician…

This is a bagel wrapped hot dog. It was sitting under a heat lamp and seemed very happy about being there.

Apparently glad to see the tongs.

I think I could have written about this hot dog. The problem I ran into was that I had too many jokes. They were interfering with the meat of the post. I’m not above cheap jokes, but I won’t have then interfere with the thrust of my writing.

The Jolie Pez Project: The Jolie In Rocklin, CA

The Jolie took a little rest after her Key West trip. Soon, she grew restless and wanted to get on the road. She asked me if she could go out west again, since she loved Key West so much. I didn’t have the endurance to get into a geography discussion with her, so I just sent her to California to visit Linlah.

Linlah, unlike me, has infinite endurance, or at least enough to get the photos of The Jolie’s adventures and allow her to dictate her thoughts to her.

After being cooped up in that “if it fits it ships” box for a week all I could think of was I gotta find something to climb. Lucky for me Linlah lives near a park that afforded some great climbing opportunities.

After getting my muscles stretched out we headed to a nearby city and I met a new friend while climbing on one of the big granite balls that line the front of the civic center.

2011 – The Year In Jolie

2011 was The Jolie’s first full year of travel. Wow, has she ever traveled. She’s been to the Arctic, she’s been to the Caribbean, and a bunch of places in between. Let’s review, shall we?

The Jolie ended 2010 and started 2011 in my home state of Maryland. She was in Baltimore as a guest of Wendi, whose food blog, Bon Appetit Hon, is a regular stop of mine.

Anyone who hosts The Jolie is a risk taker, Wendi proved she was no exception to the rule. Bringing The Jolie to work is always risky. She played Godzilla with a building model.

The Jolie tried to escape from Wendi by hiding in a beer stein.

The Jolie Pez Project: The Jolie Visits Detroit

The Jolie has become very popular. This may be due to the fact that so few people have actually met her. Bit by bit she is making her way around the continent and the world, and showing people that her Mona Lisa smile hides a troublesome personality.

Sara has been one of the many people patiently waiting for a visit from the blessed one and finally, she got what she wished for. Once again, people should be careful about that wishing thing.

“Ding dong” “Who’s there?”  The Jolie has arrived to Detroit on a beautiful fall day!

The Jolie Pez Project: The Jolie In Louisville

The Jolie headed to Louisville from Chicago and ended up at Brooke’s house. Brooke writes (and photographs) a great site called Shutterboo which you should make a point to visit. The Jolie, in her own inconsiderate way, showed up while Brooke was in a particularly busy time at work. Because she lives off of other people, she doesn’t concern herself with what she mockingly calls “busy times” with those sort of dismissive finger quotation marks in the air. Brooke still showed our friend a great time…

After seeing many of The Jolie’s travels across the country, I had to host her in my hometown of Louisville.  I had great plans for us.  They involved skipping through downtown, playing the ponies and a bucket of original recipe.  Sadly, none of those things happened.  I believe The Jolie holds that against me.  But we started out right.  Being it was the weekend and football season is in full swing, we tailgated.
